Scratch just a little bit below the surface, and many long-time Christians still struggle to know and believe that God actually loves them. This struggle manifests itself in dozens of ways, none of which are fun. It works itself out in anxiety; fear of the future; frustration; the need for affirmation, success, and approval; addictions; over-hectic lives; stress; despair; depression; disorientation; and more. It can lead to a long, exhausting, Christian life.
Why is it that so many of us who have grown up around the Christian tradition can have such a hard time believing God’s love for us?
How can we hear the phrase “God loves me” over and over but still lose its meaning in our particular lives?
And more importantly, how can I come to really know God’s love… for me?
During this retreat, we’ll explore how we can know– really know– God’s love for you and for me. Through some teaching, solitude, and guided reflection, we will put ourselves in a context where we can encounter God’s love for us, as individuals.
Lunch will be provided.
